Gord and long-time friend Simon Clemo recorded this darkly textured track at Midnight Productions, and it marked the beginning of Gord’s exploration into solo works. Gord recorded the bass line with his trademark red Rickenbacher. Simon accompanied with atmospheric background chording and lead stabs on the Korg Lamdba synth that was always sitting around the studio. Simon also laid down a vocal line, but that particular dub remains in the wind. Gord dumped a quick instrumental dub onto a cassette for me and, although it degraded quite badly over time, I was able to bring it back almost to its original quality. Overall, it’s a smoothly moving bass line that typifies a lot of Gord’s playing style and, as an instrumental, I’ve always thought it sounds like a cool soundtrack to some espionage thriller.
