about

*Please note: These songs were originally recorded onto cassette tapes, and in the twentysomething years before they were found and saved digitally, the cassettes had deteriorated quite badly. In other words, if you've come here looking for high fidelity, you've unfortunately come to the wrong place. Having said that, if you listen to the tracks for their composition, you may enjoy what you hear. Okay, onto a bit of back story:

In 2007 (in the wake of Gord’s passing), Rick, Lance and I chatted about playing together again, and met a few times for informal acoustic jam sessions at a yoga-studio space in Etobicoke, Ont. (My brother jokingly referred to the studio as the Bloated Lotus.) Suspecting we might chat again about doing the band thing, I started composing a few new songs, created as instrumental tracks by which members might practice. Things fizzled rather quickly but I was nonetheless very happy about the three new MIDI songs I’d composed. “Deviant” was inspired by my son and the feelings of isolation and anger that can be generated by the insipid, thimble-minded opinions of adults more entwined by personal issues than wisdom. “Diggin’ a Grave” was written about the death of Rick’s sister, Diane. “One Step Ahead” was my version of the Split Enz song by the same name.
