One of the earliest songs by The Stray Katz, “My Kinda Woman” began as a jam session before evolving into a song, and was played at almost every show. Sometimes, the song was played as recorded here. Other times, it would turn into a jam. However it was played, “My Kinda Woman” always seemed to go over well for its simplicity and groove.
As with many early Katz songs, I didn’t sit down to write lyrics. I just started making things up during that initial jam and eventually settled into what would become the words. Said another way, if the lyrics appear to have any meaning, I would be the last to table a conclusion as to what that meaning might be.
Recording footnote: Prior to recording, Lance had purchased the band’s first wah-wah peddle, So, rather than a lead break during the instrumental portion of the song, Rick just has fun and goes nuts with the peddle.
lyrics
My Kinda Woman
Well we could make you laugh if we wanted to
We got a 3220 and a 482
and I realize that I been this good time
She's got me running around
put down on the motor line
Well we could make you crack if we wanted to
We got an El Dorado and a limo too
and I realize that I been this good time
She's a fast little woman
but she ain't even a good time
Well we could make you laugh if we wanted to
We got a 3220 and a 482
and I realize that I been this good time
She's a fast little woman
but she ain't even a good time
Rockin' my way back home
down, down, down, down
